Week 6 provided lots of challenges and opportunities for school sections with the onslaught of rain across West Virginia. Still several top contenders capitalized by supporting their teams and submitting to @RSNsports1 throughout the week. Then there were the most dedicated fans that not only braved bad weather but traveled some distances to do so. The RSN Taiilgate Show had a fantastic time at Williamstown High and getting to know the “Yellin Jackets” and their cheerleaders visiting our show set.
The RSN road show will be visiting Boone County this Friday night at the Sherman (4-1) vs. Van (4-0) pregame show. It’s a big rivalry and a “Black out” theme by Sherman fans that have been asking RSN to visit for some time. Watch the show live or on demand at RSNsports.com each Friday.
We’re looking at some other great fan venues in October. Will it be your school? Keep those submissions coming and we might just see you first hand soon!

North Marion “Rachel’s Rowdies” section goes neon in week 5
Class AAA was very close among the top contenders. It was P South’s week long effort and strong road trip effort that edged them into the top spot for the second week in a row. However, that didn’t diminish very good efforts by Wheeling Park, South Charleston and Hedgesville.
Class AA was dominated by Liberty Harrison, a relative newcomer to the rankings. James Monroe, Fairmont Senior and North Marion looked strong but came in late in the week and allowed Liberty Harrison the inside lane that they never relinquished.
Class A was dominated by South Harrison across the week and on the road to Moorefield. The Hawks brought their A game and it propelled them to the #1 spot ahead of a surging Fayetteville Pirate section.

Week four brought change at the top of all three classes with perennial power Parkersburg South leading the way among all classes. The “Southside Psychos” went for “Gold” in their home theme on Friday and in the process just pummeled @RSNsports1 with updates and media. Even more the Patriots provided support throughout the week for their olympic sports and tagged us.
Wheeling Park was on the road at University last week but still managed a great week long spirit of media to us in support of their teams. Martinsburg was another team on the road Friday night but Dawg Pound traveled very well to Spring Mills. South Charleston came out of nowhere to capture the #4 spot in Riverside remained in the Top 5 even with a road game.
In class AA, Bridgeport surged with some great tailgate’n updates to us along with tremendous section turnout. “The Pit” is calling us with the RSN Tailgate Show to come to Bridgeport for a great time and we might just have to soon. Oak Glen stayed strong at #2 even with a off week.
In class A Williamstown flexed it’s muscles and put on a show for us. The turnout and performance pushed them ahead of other strong performances by Saint Marys and Ritchie County. South Harrison and Tyler Consolidated were facing down weeks with byes and travel but still managed to hold on the Top 5.

Week 3 of the statewide RSN section competition was extremely competitive in the AAA and A classes.
Nearly every one of our top 10 AAA sections could make a good argument to be the #1 section. However, Riverside learned from experience and took advantage of a big home date and week long submissions to @RSNsports1. Parkersburg South garnered a bus and traveled well to Morgantown along with showing out during the week for soccer and volleyball contests. John Marshall was John Marshall…always a strong showing and keeping it going all week long. Wheeling Park weathered a monsoon and still kept the tweets coming. Hedgesville came out strong all week for volleyball and soccer. Morgantown gave us a black eye by showing us we missed them in last week’s rankings with a huge turnout. Hurricane and Parkersburg both burst on the scene with Yuge turnouts.
Class AA found Oak Glen still on top the pack. The Golden Bears are pulling out all the stops to hold the number one spot while last week’s #2 Nitro, had to travel to Hoover where it fell short of last week. Outside of James Monroe in the south, most of AA left the door open for someone to make a strong run in this class.
Class A was VERY competitive among the top four or five sections but it was Tyler Consolidated that pounded us all week long with support for their soccer, volleyball and a game at Webster County. South Harrison made a very strong run itself and on any other week may have grabbed the #1 spot. But the Hawks still impressed us into the #2 spot and we look forward to SHHS being a power in class A. Ritchie County is another rising star. Watch for the Rebels to make their mark in the weeks ahead. Of course there’s still Williamstown, Magnolia and Saint Marys out there that have always delivered.
It looks like the RSN Tailgate Show will be traveling to Sissonville this Friday for homecoming where the Indians (2-1) will be taking on the Scott Skyhawks. We have many requests from you, the fans, to visit and see your kingdoms for ourselves and believe us, we want to experience each one and show the state and USA what you have. We’re getting to as many as we can. Be patient and keep up the great work for your school and we’ll be coming to your town soon!

Rankings are purely for fun and not scientific. RSN uses a combination of fall and winter sports participation reflecting section turn-outs, submissions to @RSNsports1, creativity, sportsmanship, followers to @RSNsports1, and consistency.
Martinsburg crowned Grand Champion!
The Bulldogs may have been one of the most distant schools from our headquarters in Charleston but that didn’t stop them from turning out consistently across the seasons and making sure we knew about it in the Capitol City. It was good to see that distance doesn’t have to be a factor and everyone has a great chance to showcase their school and community in our rankings each week.
Parkersburg South continued its multi-year run at the top spot with a close second place. The Southside Psychos are intense and always a great place for RSN to visit.
Congrats to all the sections on our list. We look forward to taking the IOGA Energy Speaks Tailgate Show on the road to even more schools this fall!
Honorable Mention: Ripley, Riverside, Cabell Midland, Riverside.
Indians Rise to Top
Class AA was close down the line of the Top 10 but it was Bridgeport that edged it out. Strong performances by the Indians’ teams kept the energy alive all year and traffic to RSNsports.com high. Some others did well in either football or basketball but fell off in the other. Overall it was another great year of participation in AA. Congrats to all the sections and we look forward to seeing many this fall!
Honorable Mention: Scott, Shady Spring, Bluefield.
Magnolia Soars Above the Pack!
The Blue Eagles held off strong showings by Williamstown and Fayetteville to take the top spot. Magnolia remains a annual power in our rankings year after year. Williamstown was a close second and shows promise for 2016-17 to be a champion. Others on our list showed out great for the winter basketball season. Hopefully they will put it all together for all seasons next year.
Honorable Mention: East Hardy, Doddridge County
